Yacht Charter Calvi & Corsica's West Coast: A Cruising Guide

Calvi: Corsica's Most Accessible Port

Calvi, on Corsica's northwest coast, is the island's most accessible port from the French Riviera. Just 100nm from Nice, it's the natural first stop for yachts crossing from mainland France.

The town is dominated by its massive Genoese citadel, which watches over a sweeping bay of fine sand — perfect for anchoring and swimming.

Calvi Marina & Facilities

  • Marina capacity for yachts up to 50m
  • Fuel, water, electricity, and Wi-Fi
  • Excellent provisioning at the local market
  • International airport with seasonal flights from major European cities

West Coast Highlights

Balagne Coast

Between Calvi and Île-Rousse, this stretch of coast features coves backed by olive groves and hilltop villages. Stop at Algajola for swimming in turquoise water.

Desert des Agriates

South of Île-Rousse, the Agriates coast is 40km of completely uninhabited shoreline. Beaches like Saleccia and Lotu are accessible only by boat — stunningly beautiful and usually deserted.

Scandola Nature Reserve (UNESCO)

The highlight of any Corsican yacht charter. Red volcanic rock formations, sea caves, ospreys nesting on sea stacks, and incredibly clear water. Anchor outside the reserve and explore by tender.

Girolata

A tiny fishing village with no road access. The sheltered bay is a perfect overnight anchorage. Enjoy fresh-caught seafood at the waterfront restaurants.

Calanques de Piana

South of Scandola, the red granite calanques of Piana are among the most dramatic coastal formations in the Mediterranean. Best viewed from the water at sunset when the rock glows orange.
